Pursue - Day 11

Pursue...Day 11

Prayer Prompt: Pray for those who serve at Ignite.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as if you are working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
Colossians 3:23-24 (NIV)

The volunteers at Ignite Wesleyan are essential to how our church functions. Without them, we could not do what we do. Much of the work needed to sustain healthy ministries and outreach programs requires the service of volunteers. God has equipped us all with gifts and talents that He desires to use for the mutual benefit of the church body as we live as an example of how Christ served.

Volunteers are vital for the following reasons:
Fulfilling the church’s mission to serve.
For our own spiritual growth, as we put our faith into action.
To build and foster a sense of connection, community, and belonging.
Take part in impacting the lives of the church body.
Live out the gospel; serving makes us selfless as we become more generous with our time and efforts.

Today, pray for the many volunteers we currently have serving at Ignite, and also pray about how God may be leading you to find somewhere to serve in our church.

Righteous Father, we are so grateful for the men and women You have called to selflessly volunteer at Ignite. Preserve and strengthen them as they commit to serving others in the name of Your Son. Guide them as they graciously give of their time and energy. Help them to see the needs of those around them with a willing and patient heart. Provide them with a listening ear, a helping hand, a kind word, or a compassionate act. Lord, You have shown us through Your life and teachings that true greatness comes from counting others above ourselves and giving ourselves to the service of others. Please help us model our lives after that example and put the needs of others above ourselves. Remind us that every act of service, no matter how small, has the potential to make a big difference in someone else’s life. It isn’t always easy because it requires sacrifice and humility. Still, when we serve, we become more like You and experience the joy and fulfillment that comes from living a life of purpose and participation in the kingdom-building work You are doing on earth. We pray You will continue to call men and women to serve at Ignite, offering to You their gifts and talents. Give each of us the heart of a servant.
In Jesus’ Name, we pray, Amen.
