Pursue - Day 14
Pursue...Day 14

Prayer Prompt: Pray for the elderly at Ignite.
“Even while I am old and gray, God, do not abandon me, while I proclaim your power to another generation, your strength to all who are to come.” Psalm 71:18 (CSB)
Oftentimes, the older generations at church feel overlooked and dismissed, as if their work is done. But that is just not the case! The Lord is not done with them yet! Those who are older are vital to our churches because they offer us wisdom, life experience, and a unique perspective that has been shaped by their own life and faith journeys. The elderly can serve as mentors, role models, and teachers who pass on valuable insights and traditions to the younger generations. Their prayers, spiritual guidance, and unwavering faith over the years contribute to the health and well-being of our church. Take time to get to know the older members of Ignite and benefit from their years of life experience and wisdom. Pray that the older generations see how they can intentionally invest themselves in the lives of the younger members of Ignite.
Most Gracious Father, we praise You for the wealth and depth of wisdom our church has in its older generation. Give us hearts that never take them for granted. Give us eyes to see those who are lonely and struggling with advanced years. We know You are good, and we praise You for how You have carried and blessed them with a fortitude that has built an abiding faith in their lives. May they understand the responsibility You have given them to teach younger generations about trust in and obedience to You. May we always remember to pause and listen to their years of wisdom. Give us empathy to see those who are lonely and infirm, and give us a better understanding of how to love them well in every and all circumstances. Turn to them and be gracious to them when they are alone and afflicted. Bring them peace and comfort as You help them know how loved they are by You and by us. You still have important work to accomplish through them. May we be a church that loves and honors the older generation. We praise You for what they bring to our congregation.
In Your Son’s Name, Amen.
